Helical Piers

What is a Helical Pier?

A helical pier, also known as a helical pile, is a foundation solution that resembles a giant screw. It consists of a central steel shaft with multiple helical (spiral-shaped) plates welded to it. These piers are twisted into the ground using hydraulic machinery until they reach a stable, load-bearing soil layer or bedrock. It is equivalent to using a screw instead of a nail to secure your foundation.

1. Immediate Load-Bearing Capacity: Unlike concrete, which requires curing time to reach its full strength (days or even weeks), helical piers can bear the full structural load immediately after installation. This significantly speeds up construction timelines.

2. Versatility in Soil Conditions: Helical piers are highly adaptable and can be used in a wide range of challenging soil conditions.

3. Minimal Site Disturbance: The installation process for helical piers is much less invasive than traditional methods.

4. Speed and Efficiency of Installation: Helical piers can be installed very quickly using relatively small, readily available hydraulic equipment. This reduces labor costs and overall project duration.

5. Durability and Longevity: Helical piers are typically made of galvanized steel, providing excellent resistance to corrosion, ensuring a long lifespan. Some designs even incorporate “sacrificial” anodes for added protection.

6. Known and Verified Capacity: During installation, the torque required to screw the pier into the ground is continuously monitored. This provides a real-time indication of the pier’s load-bearing capacity, offering a more precise and reliable foundation than methods where capacity is only estimated.

Immediate Load Bearing Capability

Unlike driven piles that require up to a week of curing before they can bear weight, our helical piers allow for immediate structural mounting. That means no waiting around, no delays, and no compromising on safety or quality. Whether it's a residential home or a large-scale commercial build, our helical installation process is designed to keep your project moving forward without sacrificing precision or durability.
