Ground conditions

What the soil does under Haslet buildings

Haslet's flat, open land is what drew the big distribution buildings north of Fort Worth, and the clay under it is what keeps foundation engineers cautious. The same ground swells in wet months and shrinks in dry ones, and a long, heavy slab feels that movement at every corner.

Wide slabs, many bearing points

A warehouse floor is a lot of concrete resting on a lot of ground. When the soil moves unevenly across that footprint, the slab and the walls tied to it can drift out of plane. Piers carry the load to stable soil below the moving layer.

Heavy rack and dock loads

Racking, forklift traffic, and loading docks put concentrated weight on the structure. Docks in particular tend to show settlement first because the apron slab and the building slab sit on different fill.

Runoff from big roofs and big lots

Large roofs shed a lot of water, and paved yards direct it somewhere. Where that water collects against a building edge, the soil under that edge cycles between soggy and dry faster than the rest.

We check the cause before we price a fix

Measure first. On an existing building we survey floor and wall elevations with a zip level and look at drainage and building history. If the data points to water management rather than structure, we tell you so.

Warning signs in a commercial building

One symptom rarely proves anything. Several of them together, or one that keeps getting worse, deserve a closer look from an engineer.

  • Overhead dock doors that jam, rub the tracks, or sit unevenly in the opening
  • Wall panel joints that open up or show a new crack pattern
  • Slab joints with a visible lip, or floors that no longer read level under a laser
  • Racking or conveyor lines that have to be re-shimmed more than once
  • Sealant at control joints that keeps splitting after repair
What we do

Helical piers, from our own shop to your site

We make the piers and we install them. When one company does both, a question about a pier goes to one phone number.

Pier Installation for Warehouses

Our rigs turn each pier down until it hits the torque your engineer specified. Depths of 10 to 30 feet are common here, and we go deeper when the soil requires it.

Underpinning Settled Buildings

When a building has already settled, we engineer a pier layout sized to its loads and to what the soil near Haslet will actually carry.

Our process

Four steps from first visit to final torque log

01 · Evaluation

Site Evaluation

Bring your drawings, geotech report, or just a description of the problem. For existing structures we survey elevations and look at drainage before anyone mentions piers.

02 · Design

Pier Layout

We size pier spacing, shaft, and helix configuration around your loads and the soils on your report, then route that to your engineer for approval.

03 · Install

Drive to Torque

Our crew advances every pier until the torque reading meets the design value, adding extensions as needed instead of stopping at a fixed depth.

04 · Sign-off

Records and Warranty

You get the torque log tied to each pier location. Commercial installations carry a 10-year warranty, plus the Green Tag Guarantee on the job.

Proof on paper

Evidence you can hand to an inspector

A credential tells you who we are. These records tell you what happened on your site.

  • Torque is the stop signal

A pier stops turning when it reaches its required torque, not when a depth counter says so. Torque follows soil strength, which is what the structure is relying on.

  • Every location documented

The final torque for each pier is written down against where it sits on the plan. That sheet is what an owner or inspector checks later.

  • Load tests when the project calls for them

Compression tests confirm downward capacity and tension tests confirm uplift resistance. Our hydraulic test equipment records movement under load.

  • Your engineer sets the design

If the engineer of record has specified piers, we build what they drew. Any change in the field goes back to them for approval first.

Haslet helical pier answers

Do you work in Haslet, Texas?
Yes. FnD Piers has been family-owned since 2005 and works across Haslet and north Tarrant County. Site evaluations in Haslet (76052) cost nothing.
How is a helical pier quoted for a warehouse project?
The price follows pier count, required depth, and how easily our rig can reach each location. After a free evaluation you receive a written quote that spells all of it out before work starts.
How far down do the piers go near Haslet?
Typically 10 to 30 feet, sometimes 40 or more. Each pier keeps turning until the torque reading says it has reached soil that can hold the design load.
Can we purchase piers and install them with our own crew?
You can. We manufacture helical piers in J55 steel to ASTM A572 Grade 50 and sell them direct to contractors and engineers.
What is covered after installation?
Our Green Tag Guarantee covers every job: built to the engineer's specification, passes inspection, and satisfies you, or the money comes back. Commercial helical work also has a 10-year warranty.
What does the schedule look like?
A typical installation takes from several hours up to a few days. Standard (non-specialty) piers can often go out the next day, and your proposal lists a timeline for your specific site.
