Helical Piles, Screw Piles, Ground Screws: All the Same Product

If you are searching for screw piles, helical piling, ground screws, or helix piles, you are looking for what we build. The industry uses these names interchangeably for a galvanized steel shaft with helical plates that is torqued into the ground to reach load-bearing capacity. FnD Piers manufactures them in Texas and installs them across five states.

Made in Texas

We Manufacture the Strongest Helical Piles in the Industry

  • Made with J55 carbon steel and material per ASTM A572 G50.
  • Our 2-7/8" helical is .279w and our 4.5" helical is .290w, 38% stronger.
  • Cold plate galvanizing (CPG) per ASTM-A780 and hot-dip galvanized per ASTM-A123.
  • Torque to precise engineer's specs without deflection, unlike other helical products.

Engineering specs and load tables are available on request. Ask for them when you call.

We tested it, on camera

Torque Tested to 11,000 ft-lbs

You are the one turning it. Specs on paper are easy, so we put piles in the ground and kept turning until something gave out.

Our 2⅝” pier with the .28 wall took the torque monitor to 11,000 ft-lbs. When it finally let go, it was the coupler that sheared, not the pier. We pulled the shaft back out of the ground and it came up straight, with no twisting and no candy-caning. The steel was still doing its job.

Pier testedTorque reached
1½” square shaft — visibly twisting after the first extension~8,500 ft-lbs
2⅝” round shaft, thinner wall~7,500 ft-lbs
FnD 2⅝”, .28 wall — pier intact, coupler sheared11,000 ft-lbs
FnD 4½” — maxed out the test equipment19,000 ft-lbs

Note the order. The square shaft outlasted the thin-wall round pier on raw torque, but it had already started deforming at the very first extension. Peak numbers are not the whole story; what the steel looks like on the way there is.

There is a difference between getting a pier into the ground and putting one in that can carry what is being asked of it. That is why we test.

Read what's said in the video

“On our .28 wall, 2⅝” pier the torque monitor went up to 11,000 foot pounds. We got up to 11,000, we stayed there for just a little bit, it barely sustained and then popped. And I want you to notice — we bring it out of the hole, the pier itself is actually still intact. There's no twisting or candy-caning effect. It was the coupler itself that sheared. So in terms of the strength for the compression load, the integrity of this metal is still there.”

What we pull off other job sites

A Pier Can Fail Where Nobody Will Ever See It

The square shafts in this video came off competitors' jobs. They are visibly twisted, and they broke right at the helix — the end that goes in the ground first and stays there.

That is the part of a pier installation nobody can inspect once the hole is backfilled. A shaft that has started to twist can still be turned, cut off at the surface and capped, and from above ground the finished job looks the same either way.

“We'll go to jobs of competitors and these are laying all over the place, which is where we got this piece. That makes me believe that in the field, other companies using this industry standard are breaking it off down in the ground, leaving this piece sticking up, making people think that they have a solid pier.”

It is the same reason we torque test our own steel and publish what happened. What goes underground matters, and you should not have to take anyone's word for what is down there.

The Helical Pile Advantage

Immediate load bearing helical pile

Immediate Load-Bearing

Unlike driven piles that need up to a week of curing, our helical piles allow immediate structural mounting, no waiting, no delays, no compromise on quality.

Helical pile install in wet weather

Ready Rain or Shine

Our helical piles are ready to load the moment they are installed, even in wet weather. Why drive a nail into shifting soil when a screw provides a stronger hold?

Green Tag Guarantee

Guaranteed to Pass Inspection

Backed by our Green Tag Guarantee, we work closely with engineers and know local inspection requirements, so your foundation work is done right the first time.

The case for helical

Why use a helical pile on your job?

Immediate Capacity

Helical piles bear full structural load immediately after installation, no curing time, speeding up timelines.

Versatile in Any Soil

Highly adaptable across a wide range of challenging soil conditions.

Minimal Site Disturbance

Installation is far less invasive than traditional methods, which matters on tight or finished sites.

Fast & Efficient

Installed quickly with small, readily available hydraulic equipment, cutting labor costs and project duration.

Durable & Long-Lasting

Galvanized steel resists corrosion for an excellent lifespan, with sacrificial anodes on some designs.

Verified Capacity

Install torque is monitored in real time, giving a precise, reliable indication of load-bearing capacity.

Manufacturing & wholesale

Engineered for Strength

Our helical piles are designed for strength, durability, and immediate performance, engineered to withstand tough soil conditions and eliminate the downtime of traditional curing periods. They meet ASTM standards, built by certified welders with J55 metal and cold-plate galvanized steel. Engineering specs available on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are screw piles and helical piles the same thing?
Yes. Screw piles, helical piles, helical piers, ground screws, and helix piles all describe the same product: a galvanized steel shaft with one or more helical plates that is screwed into the ground until it reaches the load-bearing capacity an engineer specifies. The name varies by region and trade, not by the product.
Can I buy helical piles directly instead of hiring an installer?
Yes. We are a manufacturer, so contractors and builders can buy piles, extensions, and brackets direct at manufacturer pricing and install them with their own crew. We also offer free hands-on training if your crew is new to helical work.
How much do helical piles cost?
Pricing depends on shaft size, helix configuration, depth, and quantity, so we quote per project rather than posting a list price. Because we manufacture in house, you are not paying a distributor markup. Call us with your load requirements and soil report and we will price it quickly.
How deep do helical piles need to go?
Depth is determined by torque, not by a fixed number. We install until the pile reaches the torque that corresponds to the engineered load capacity, which varies with soil conditions. Torque is monitored in real time during installation and documented.
How fast can you supply or install helical piles?
Non-specialty helical piles are typically installed next day, and most installations finish in a matter of hours. For supply orders, common sizes are in stock at our Texas shop and ship across Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Arkansas.
What is the Green Tag Guarantee?
It signifies that our foundation work meets or exceeds local inspection standards, ensuring your project is completed correctly the first time, giving you peace of mind that it will pass inspection.
